Students Get Their Hands Dirty To Keep The Beaches Garbage-Free

QUICK BITE - The students of Don Bosco College, Panjim, organised a Beach Clean-Up drive on April 7, 2022, as a small step towards keeping the beaches and environment clean. Around 40-45 participants showed up to lend a hand in cleaning the white sands that Goa has always been known for.

The students of SY BBA in collaboration with the Ecotiva club of Don Bosco College, Panjim, organised a Beach Clean-Up drive on April 7, 2022, as a small step towards keeping the beaches and environment clean. The drive was held along the Miramar-Caranzalem stretch and began at 7.45am. Around 40-45 participants showed up to lend a hand in cleaning the white sands that Goa has always been known for.

The members of group three sponsored the gloves and garbage bags which were then distributed to the volunteers. Along with it was a brief explanation by the group members on the methods of segregation and collection. The students were then divided into groups of five and were assigned to collect the different types of wastes: paper, plastic, glass, rubber, thermacol, etc. The participants were very enthusiastic, and within an hour, had a collection of well-segregated garbage piled together which would then be collected by CCP, Panjim.

The clean-up drive was organised under the guidance of the club in-charge, Assistant Professor Glenda Mascarenhas, and was attended by Asst. Professors Gilbert Mendes, Nigel Baretto and Alisha Souza along with students from the departments of Mass Communication, Business Administration and Social Work. The Principal, Dr Cedric Silveira, appreciated the team for their hard work. Through this clean up drive, the club and the group members reminded everyone about the need to keep our coastal areas waste-free.
