‘THE CINEMANIACS’ KICK IT OFF WITH ‘LOOOP LAPETA’

QUICK BITE - The inaugural event of the Film Club was an interaction with Mr. Bhupesh Bandekar, a lively and enthusiastic actor/writer from Goa itself and the screening of his latest Netflix Hindi feature film – ‘Looop Lapeta’.


The Film Club or the ‘Cinemaniacs’ of Don Bosco College, Panjim organised their inaugural event for the academic year 2022-23 on 29 August 2022. The club as the name suggests invites all students who are either movie lovers or those who are interested in the art of filmmaking. The inaugural event was an interaction with Mr. Bhupesh Bandekar, a lively and enthusiastic actor/writer from Goa itself and the screening of his latest Netflix Hindi feature film – ‘Looop Lapeta’. Along with Mr Bhupesh, the Director of Don Bosco College Fr. Joaquim Lobo, the Principal Dr. Cedric Silveira, and the Faculty in-charge of the ‘Cinemaniacs’ Asst. Professor Agnelo D'Souza were also present.

Once the compere of the event, Mr Rameez Shaikh introduced and welcomed the guests; the Film Club's President Ms. Sakshi Kittur extended a warm welcome to everyone and briefed the audience regarding previous activities the club had proudly put together as well as the events for the coming academic year 22-23. The Principal Dr. Cedric Silvera and the Director Rev. Fr. Joaquim Lobo discussed the excellent events the club had to offer and encouraged students to be a part of the club’s forthcoming events such as CINEMANIA which is an inter-class and inter-college event with various competitions such as quiz, acting etc.
After introducing Mr. Bandekar as the Chief Guest, Asst. Professor Mr. Agnelo D'Souza shared a few short clips from the different movies that Mr. Bandekar had been a part of in his career. The students and teachers along with the Chief Guest and dignitaries, were finally invited on to declare the film club ‘Cinemaniacs’ be open in the filmiest way possible with a 10-sec countdown and a clapboard.


The interactive session with Mr. Bhupesh Bandekar was conducted by Ms Mrunalini Pai, a TY Mass Communication student asking him questions related to his experience as an actor and various other roles in filmmaking. Mr Bhupesh Bandekar happily replied to all the questions that came his way- the ups and downs he had to face on his way of pursuing his lifelong dream, the benefits he gained during the journey, the expectations and a few past stories about how he always had a passion towards filmmaking and acting despite his Dad always encouraging him to be a lawyer. He also spoke about his experience in Mumbai for the first time, the rejections, the people and so on. During the interview Mr. Bandekar also shared his thoughts and views on art direction and casting also mentioning his preference towards Hindi films as he grew up watching them therefore making it more comfortable for him to work in. The interviewer then later opened the Q/A session to the audience who ended up asking questions regarding the film industry and his experience working in films such as ‘Looop Lapeta’ and ‘Kedarnath’. Mr Bandekar joyfully answered the questions, making up humorous jokes while keeping the audience engaged throughout the entire session. He also ended up talking about how he works on getting into the character for each of his films and encouraged the students to follow their dreams.


The Club Secretary Mr. Ryan Fernandes, then thanked the Chief Guest, the dignitaries and everyone present. A group photograph was taken with Mr. Bhupesh Bandekar who was also presented with a memento of appreciation by Asst. Professor Agnelo D’Souza.
Following the interactive session, the movie ‘Looop Lapeta’ featuring Taapsee Pannu, Tahir Raj Basin and Bhupesh Bandekar was screened for the all Film Club members. The movie being a hilarious and entertaining one received a lot of laughter and whistles from the audience. Overall the inaugural event of the ‘Cinemaniacs’ was truly a cinematic one.
