Cybercrime Awareness Talk for the Youth

The Student welfare, Grievance Redressal and ICCR Committee in association with the Department of Computer Applications of the Don Bosco College, organised a session on Cybercrime Awareness Talk for the Youth for the students of the College on February 01, 2023 at Bicentenary Hall. The resource person invited for the talk was Mr Vidyanand Pawar - Police Inspector from the Cybercrime Police Station, Ribandar.

The session began at 10.30 am. The faculty members of Department of Computer Applications escorted the resource person to the bicentenary hall and formally welcomed him to grace the occasion. He was then introduced to all the students and teachers gathered. This was followed by presenting a token of appreciation to Mr. Pawar by Asst. Prof. Ms. Shreesha P.J., Head of Student Welfare, Grievance Redressal and ICCR committee.


Mr. Pawar then conducted a very informative session on Cybercrime on various topics like types of cybercrime activities, some case studies that occurred in the state of Goa, sections in law and punishments for people committing cybercrime and also how to prevent becoming a victim of cybercrime. At the end of his talk, a brief interactive Q&A session was held with Mr Pawar, who responded to the questions from the students with great interest and provided them with much valuable information.

In the concluding rites of the session Mr. Pawar demonstrated how cyber criminals use spyware to access victim's device. Mr Rohan Kerkar, Coordinator of Department of Computer Applications delivered the vote of thanks. There was a mammoth number of almost 200 students who attended the session along with the teachers.The session ended at 11.40 am.

The entire session was revealing and effective in creating awareness in youth of our institution.
