NSS Volunteers with teachers at Azad Maidan
On August 15, 2024, the NSS Unit at Don Bosco College Panjim participated in the Flag Hoisting Ceremony marking the 78th year of India’s Independence. The celebration took place in the college oratory. The flag was unfurled by the chief guest, Dr R G Wiseman Pinto, Professor and Head of the Pathology Department at Goa Medical College, Bambolim, in the presence of Rev Fr Tamatur, Principal of the Higher Secondary School, and Fr Joaquim Lobo, College Administrator. The higher secondary students put up various performances focusing on the theme of patriotism, stirring strong sentiments of pride and honour amongst the audience.

Following the ceremony, the NSS Unit of Don Bosco College participated in the Tiranga Rally at Azad Maidan, which was part of a series of events organized across India to commemorate the country’s independence and honour the Tiranga, India’s national flag.

The rally concluded with the NSS unit experiencing a renewed sense of pride in the country. It brought the community together in a display of unity and patriotism, honouring the country’s heritage and fostering a deeper connection with our national values.
