First Film Screening of the CINEMANIACS

QUICK BITE - 'CINEMANIACS' focuses and directs students in activities which have knowledge related to film making.

On October 13, 2021, the Mass Communication Department held the inaugural ceremony of the Film Club ‘CINEMANIACS’ with the guest speaker Sainath Parab, a Goan writer and director. The inaugural session was organised by Mr Agnelo D'Souza who is the faculty in-charge of the film club and Mrunalini Pai, the student coordinator along with the faculty and students from the Department of Mass Communication.
The guest speaker for the session was renowned director and writer, Mr. Sainath Parab, who has immense love for theatre and films. He has been in the entertainment business for the last 9-10years. His Marathi film 'Disha' was his first film which got Goa state award as the best film and direction. It also entered some major festivals of India KIFF and IFFI. Rakhandar is his first Konkani short-film.


'CINEMANIACS' focuses and directs students in activities which have knowledge related to film making. Besides this the club also arranges other fun activities such as movie screenings, quizzes, competitions, master classes etc. for the students of the Don Bosco College, Panjim.
The inaugural ceremony started with an interesting countdown hosted by Aryavrat Malhotra featured iconic movie dialogues from Bollywood & Hollywood Films. Students were filled with enthusiasm and excitement to recite the dialogues. After which Mr. Sainath Parab firmly clapped the film-sticks of the clapboard and inaugurated the club. Thereafter, the students watched the film Rakhandar which was quite inspiring and educative on how one must protect nature. It reflected the ignorance of youngsters when visiting picnic spots. It also displayed the devastating impact of polluting these sites with garbage.


Later a Q&A session was conducted by the moderator Shreeya Kudchadkar. Interesting and important questions were put forth by the students. In this interactive session Mr. Sainath Parab highlighted a number of things that are important while making a film. He shared an insight from the point of view as an independent film maker in Goa and the pre and post production process of his own film. He mentioned how 'no scripts' give freedom to the actors to express their emotions. He further highlighted the importance of intricate scheduling which inturn ensures the whole shoot is taking place in ease.


This session was not only interactive and educative but it motivated all the young film makers and in the words of Mr Sainath Parab "Be passionate, experiment and technology is not a limit". The event ended with a vote of thanks given by Ishita Rao.
A second of the same was organised for the TY BBA students as part of the Film Appreciation class. The screening witnessed an array of technical questions being posed to the director who tackled the same with very realistic examples.
