Recognising the growing importance of events in Goa’s tourism and corporate sectors, the Department of Bachelor of Business Administration, Don Bosco College, organised a five-day Event Management Workshop for SY BBA students from 23rd to 30th January.
The workshop commenced with an insightful session by Ms. Marsha D’Souza, who introduced students to the fundamentals of the event management industry. She familiarised them with the roles and responsibilities of an event manager and engaged the students through a practical assignment.
On the second day, Ms. Barbara Lornei broadened students’ perspectives by discussing unconventional and socially relevant events. Her session included examples such as organising programmes for senior citizens in old-age homes and planning beach weddings near turtle nesting sites. Students were again grouped and assigned research-based mini projects, making the session both informative and interactive.

Day three featured Mr. Sameer Kapadi, who delivered a detailed talk on outdoor advertising. He explained various advertising mediums such as billboards, wall paintings, and mobile vans, while also introducing key industry concepts like OOH (Out-of-Home), DOOH (Digital Out-of-Home), and POOH (Promotional Out-of-Home) advertising. The use of videos and visual examples helped students better understand real-world applications.
The workshop also included a session by Mr. Kiran Chander, a renowned event manager from Panjim, who spoke about the technical and operational aspects of organising large-scale events. He highlighted areas such as production, food and beverage management, décor, logistics, entertainment, and venue planning, emphasising the importance of systematic grids and surveillance for efficient event execution.
On the concluding day, entrepreneur and event professional Ms. Komal Karpade inspired students by sharing her personal journey in building multiple businesses, including her event management company. She stressed the importance of confidence, knowledge, and perseverance for success in the field and encouraged students to reflect on their career aspirations.
The workshop provided students with valuable industry exposure and practical insights, opening up event management as a promising career option and equipping them with skills relevant to the dynamic events industry.
