The Department of English at Don Bosco College recently brought language and literature to the fore with its flagship event LitQuest 1.0, a three-day inter-class literary festival held from 16 to 18 March 2026. Students from across all departments teamed up to "Unleash Creativity" through a series of high-energy competitive events.
The festival opened on 16th March with ‘Caption This’ – an event that challenged students to provide the wittiest commentary for on-screen visuals. The stakes rose during ‘The Sensory Shift’, a live-writing marathon.
Drama took centre stage with ‘The Literary Tribunal’ on 17th March, where students stepped into the shoes of literature’s most infamous villains to defend their “crimes” before a mock court. Meanwhile, the “Tale of Two” tested the “gift of the gab,” requiring duos to sync perfectly to solve communication-based puzzles.
The final day featured the vibrant Literary Cosplay, as iconic characters from novels and series were brought to life through costume and performance. As the final rounds of the ‘Wuzzle’ word quiz concluded, student photographers captured the essence of the day through their lenses to submit for the final event ‘Freeze’.
Ms Lizanne Joseph and Mr Piyush Jadhav of TYBA secured the first place in the word game, Wuzzles while Ms Heena Pirankar of TYBA and Mr Shaun Pinto of TYBBA took away the runners up prize. For the Literary Tribunal, Ms Heena once again secured the first place, as well as the second place for the Sensory Shift event.
Ms Shama Khatoon of FYBA stunned everyone with her embodying of Maleficent for Cosplay while Ms Lisa D’Silva integrated every sensory disruption beautifully in her telling of a tale in the Sensory Shift, securing the first place. When it came to eloquence and the gift of the gab. Ms Meezba Khan and Ms Sharifa Nirmani from TYBA won the first place, with Ms Rachel Moniz and Ms Alerida Rodrigues coming up in close second.
The ability to churn out a creative caption was found to be strong in Mr Elstan Nazareth of TYBA who took away the first prize for Caption This with Mr Joshua D’Souza closing in on the runners up position. Ms Swela Monteiro of FYBA did a fantastic job capturing the best moments of the event and showcasing them through the event Freeze.
The different sub-events that were lined up ensured a dive into creativity, wit and communication as students got the platform to unleash their inner artists and breathe new life into classic narratives.
