DBC FOOTBALL LEAGUE 3.0 AND DBC FOOTBALL CUP 3.0

QUICK BITE - The Department of Physical Education and Sports, Don Bosco College, Panjim, successfully organised the DBC Football League 3.0 from 7th February to 25th March 2026, followed by the DBC Football Cup 3.0 on 28th March 2026.

The Department of Physical Education and Sports, Don Bosco College, Panjim, successfully organised the DBC Football League 3.0 from 7th February to 25th March 2026, followed by the DBC Football Cup 3.0 on 28th March 2026.
The league witnessed enthusiastic participation from nine teams: Red Devils, Shreeyang’23, Gunners FC, Clube De Phoenix, Goal Diggers, Amigos, Night Hawks, Jaguars, and Rising Panthers. A distinctive feature of this edition was the inclusion of students, faculty, and alumni, boosting competition and camaraderie. The teams were formed through a player auction, adding a strategic element to the tournament. Matches were conducted daily at 8:00 AM and 2:30 PM on the Don Bosco 9-a-side turf ground. Red Devils emerged as the league champions, maintaining an unbeaten record with 14 wins and 2 draws. Shreeyang’23 secured the runners-up position with 10 wins, 2 draws, and 4 losses.
Based on their performance, the top four teams Red Devils, Shreeyang’23, Clube De Phoenix, and Rising Panthers qualified directly for the quarterfinals of the DBC Football Cup 3.0.
The DBC Football Cup 3.0 was held on 28th March 2026, commencing with an opening ceremony at 10:45 AM in the Oratory. The event was graced by Chief Guest Shri Glen Souza Ticlo, Chairman of the Goa Football Development Council (GFDC), and Guest of Honour Mrs. Fransquina Oliveira, Member Secretary of GFDC and PTA member of Don Bosco College. Also present were Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz (Director of the College), Prof. Teotone Vaz (Principal), Dr. Cedric Silveira (Vice Principal), and Mr. Ryan Pereira (Director of Physical Education and Sports).


In his address, the Chief Guest emphasised that sports play a vital role in shaping character and discipline among young people. He noted Don Bosco's belief in sports for character-building and inclusion.
The Guest of Honour noted that the GFDC aims to nurture grassroots football and provide platforms for young players to grow and excel. She appreciated the efforts of Don Bosco College in continuing this legacy by organising tournaments that promote young talent and healthy competition. She encouraged students to pursue sports with passion while maintaining a balance with academics.
The ceremony included the unveiling of trophies by the dignitaries. The Overall Interclass Championship awards for the academic year 2025–26 were presented, with TYBCA- A declared winners with 615 points and TYBBA as runners-up with 585 points. Mementos were presented to approximately 40 alumni who participated in the league and cup. Ms. Blessica Rodrigues (TYBA) received the Best Outgoing Sportsperson award. The winners and runners-up of the DBC Football League 3.0 were felicitated.
Following the opening ceremony, the Chief Guest performed the ceremonial kickoff, marking the commencement of the cup matches. The tournament began with the quarterfinals featuring the top four league teams, followed by eliminator rounds. In the final match, Rising Panthers emerged as the champions of the DBC Football Cup 3.0, defeating Shreeyang’23 by a score of 1–0.
The closing ceremony was held in the presence of Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz as Chief Guest and Prof. Teotone Vaz as Guest of Honour. Mr. Ryan Pereira and Ms. Prissie Fernandes were also present. Mementos were presented to faculty members who participated in the DBC football league and cup 3.0.
Individual awards were presented as follows:
Best Male Player – Rishit Lotlikar
Best Female Player – Aqsa Sayed
Best Goalkeeper – Shivam Valvaikar
Best Striker – Michael Tolentino
Best Defender – Siddhant Kalangutkar
Best Playmaker – Aryan Salunke
The DBC Football League 3.0 and DBC Football Cup 3.0 were a grand success, promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and active engagement among students, staff, and alumni.
