The Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracy (PRIDE), Lok Sabha Secretariat in collaboration with prominent academic institutions in the region, including Goa University, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Goa, and the India International University of Legal Education and Research (IIULER), Goa organized an interactive session with Shri. Om Birla, Honourable Speaker of the Lok Sabha on 10 April 2026 at the Goa University campus. The event focused on the pivotal role of youth in strengthening democratic processes and achieving the vision of "Viksit Bharat" by 2047. Representing Don Bosco College, Ms. Christal Ferrao, faculty member from the TIP Cell, had the privilege of attending this session to gain insights into the integration of academic innovation with national governance. The proceedings were also supported by the Goa Legislative Assembly, with Speaker Dr. Ganesh Gaonkar in attendance.

During his address, Shri. Om Birla emphasized that the youth are the greatest strength of the nation. He urged students to look beyond the act of voting and actively participate in policymaking, ensuring transparency and accountability in governance. The Speaker highlighted that innovation and research emerging from campuses are essential to solving global challenges and improving the lives of common citizens.
A significant portion of the discussion was dedicated to the increasing role of women in governance, specifically mentioning the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. The Speaker encouraged the academic community to foster an environment of determination and clarity of goals, asserting that the path to a developed India lies in the consistent hard work and vision of the younger generation.

Ms. Christal Ferrao expressed her sincere gratitude to Fr. Kinley D’Cruz, Director, Prof. Teotone Vaz, Principal and Mr. Shantanu Arlekar, Internal Head of TIP Cell for the opportunity to participate in this high-level event. The occasion to witness such high-level parliamentary outreach and engage with the leadership of the Lok Sabha Secretariat has been intellectually enriching. The insights gathered regarding the "Viksit Bharat" roadmap will be shared with our students to inspire greater civic engagement and research-oriented thinking.
