The Department of Physical Education and Sports, Don Bosco College, Panjim, organized the celebration of the International Yoga Day on 22nd June 2026 in the Bicentenary Hall. The event was conducted in accordance with this year's theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” which emphasizes the role of yoga in promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being throughout all stages of life.
The yoga session was conducted by Mr. Alois Colaco, Assistant Professor from the Department of Physical Education, along with Mr. Namdev and Ms. Kritika, students from the Department of Physical Education. The session included various yoga postures, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques aimed at enhancing flexibility, balance, concentration, and overall health. Participants were informed about the benefits of incorporating yoga into their daily routine for a healthier and more active lifestyle.
The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from the college community. Prof. Teotone Vaz, Principal, actively participated in the yoga session along with faculty members and students from various departments of the college. Their wholehearted involvement contributed to the success of the event and reflected the spirit of unity, wellness, and collective responsibility towards health and fitness.


The program was compered by Mr. Jude Fernandes, Assistant Professor from the Department of English. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Prissie Fernandes, Instructor in Physical Education. She expressed gratitude to the Principal, faculty members, students, and organizers for their active participation and support in making the event a grand success.
The celebration successfully highlighted the significance of yoga in everyday life and reinforced the message of this year's theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” The event encouraged participants to adopt yoga as a regular practice to improve their physical health, mental well-being, and quality of life.
