Christal Ferrao is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Don Bosco College, Panjim, since June 2025. Her teaching areas include Media and Cultural Studies, Corporate Communication, Advertising Management, Introduction to Events, Introduction to Copywriting, and Travel and Lifestyle Communication.
She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Communication Studies at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, Goa Campus. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from Symbiosis International University, Pune, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Media, English, and Psychology from Christ University, Bengaluru. She has also qualified for the UGC-NET examination.
Before joining Don Bosco College, she held several academic and media-related positions. She served as an Academic Associate at the Goa Institute of Management until June 2025, worked with the Multimedia Desk at Prudent Media as a Sub-Editor until March 2023, and was a Feature Writer for Viva Goa magazine until October 2021. She also contributed as a Content Writer to The Peacock magazine during the International Film Festival of India in January 2021.
Her academic and literary contributions span communication and media studies, management, sustainability, and gender studies. She co-edited Business for Good in Action: Celebrating AIM2Flourish Stories through Appreciative Inquiry, published in January 2026. She also contributed to the case study CoolAnt: Blending Tradition with Innovation for Sustainable Cooling Solutions, published in SAGE Business Cases in January 2025.
In addition to her academic work, she is the author of the poetry anthology It Is Like Magic, published in 2016 through a scheme sponsored by the Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa. She has presented research papers at various seminars and contributed to sponsored projects across her areas of academic interes
