
Dr Madhumita Mahatme is an academician, researcher, and management professional with over 28 years of combined experience, including more than 13 years in higher education and 15 years in the corporate sector. She holds a Ph.D. in Management from Goa University, an M.Phil. in Tourism, a Master of Management Studies degree in Finance, and a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree. Her multidisciplinary academic background enables her to integrate perspectives from management, tourism, healthcare, and business education.
Dr Mahatme has taught a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses at several reputed institutions in Goa, including Goa Business School, MES College, Rosary College, Goa College of Pharmacy, S.S. Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Damodar College, and Chowgule College. Her teaching areas include Marketing Management, Tourism and Hospitality, Entrepreneurship, Business Ethics, Ecotourism, Communication Skills, Emotional Intelligence, Creative Thinking, and Soft Skills.
Her research interests include sustainable tourism, community-based tourism, rural and peripheral tourism, and management case writing. She has published research papers and teaching cases in reputed journals, including the Scopus-indexed Asian Case Research Journal and the South Asian Journal of Management. She has also contributed a book chapter on rural tourism and regularly participates in faculty development programmes and research workshops.
Before entering academia, Dr Mahatme developed a successful corporate career in recruitment consulting, project management, event management, and financial services, working with leading organisations. Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, she has also trained in Indian classical music through the traditional Guru–Shishya parampara.
