Don Bosco's Student Council Shines Bright

The Investiture Ceremony 2022-23 successfully inducted the newly elected students of the Don Bosco College Student's Council on August 11, 2022.
The entire ceremony was meticulously anchored by Asst. Professor Anna Marie. The function was introduced by marking the importance of conducting an Investiture Ceremony. All the dignitaries, including the teaching staff and the students of the college were given a warm welcome. The actual purpose of conducting an Investiture Ceremony in the College was briefed to all the newly elected students at the council. Respected Principal of the Don Bosco College, Dr Cedric Silveira, congratulated and motivated the student council, to make the most out of this opportunity and to lead the students to success. The Director of the College, Rev Fr Joaquim Lobo addressed the gathering, and encouraged the students to make the college proud. The students were motivated to use their skills for the betterment of society and the community. The newly elected Students' Council were then congratulated and emphasised the significance of setting priorities and the need of the hour to be a team player and that they are the torch bearers of all the values that the college stands for and urged them to take responsibility with commitment and integrity.


The Chief Guest, Brother James Marcus, the Director of the Don Bosco Oratory, graced this special occasion with his presence. He motivated the young leaders by his candid and honest words thereby narrating an inspiring short story to the students. The talk was centered around the concept of ‘Finding a leader in oneself.' Later the Chief Guest was presented with a memento, as a token of appreciation; by the hands of the Director of the Institute, Rev Fr Joaquim Lobo.
All the members were called upon the stage one by one and the respective badges were conferred on the newly elected Student's Council members including the Class Representatives of every respective classes; by all the dignitaries respectively the Chief Guest, respected Director and Principal of our college; whilst the students in the audience cheered them on.The College Principal, Dr. Cedric Silveira imbibed the spirit of 'Soaring High' while administering the oath to the Student Council Board. The core student council consisted of Mr Vishal Jha leading as the General Secretary, Ms Ralina Soares as the Meteora Chairman with Ms Ishita Rao as the Vice Chairman and finally Ms Mrunalini Pai as the Cultural Secretary.


Leading the student council, the General Secretary, Mr Vishal Jha, accompanied the dignitaries in lighting the lamp. Everyone took in the words of the college anthem as they stood with their heads held up proudly.
At the concluding rites of the ceremony, Asst. Professor and Staff Secretary for the current academic year Mr Shantanu Arlekar expressed his gratitude on behalf of the college in the vote of thanks.The function ended at 12.30pm. Nearly 135 students had gathered in the ceremony. The students were enthralled by the overall ceremony which left them with wide smiles on their faces and everyone looking forward to a successful year ahead with the new and brilliant student council in place.
