On September 27th, 2025 Don Bosco College, Panjim, came alive with Magnify 2025, a flagship intercollegiate event commemorating World Tourism Day under this year’s United Nations theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.” Organized by the Department of Business Administration (Travel & Tourism), led by Department Coordinator Asst. Prof. Glenda Mascarenhas. This year’s Event In charge was Asst Prof Nafisa Da Costa Frias, with student co-chairperson’s Ms Jennifer de Souza and Mr Brijesh Kashyap. Every detail of the celebration aimed to reflect the vision of this year’s theme — from eco-friendly invitations, bagasse-based plates and cutlery , biodegradable décor, to authentic Goan cuisine and a vibrant dance, promoting Goan culture.
The day began with Asst Prof Shareen Alphonso highlighting this year’s UN theme, followed by Rev Fr Kinley D’Cruz’s inspiring words emphasizing the crucial role of youth participation in building a sustainable future. Asst Prof Vandana Patil delivered a heartfelt welcome and introduced the Chief Guest, Mr Jack Sukhija, President of TTAG, and the Guest of Honour, Mr Daniel D’Souza, a landscape architect and avid environmentalist. Mr Sukhija underlined that sustainability is not just an idea but a necessity in tourism, while Mr D’Souza stressed the importance of protecting Goa’s local landscape and culture. Principal Dr Cedric Silveira, as a gesture of gratitude, presented mementos to both dignitaries. The Chief Guest Mr Jack Sukhija officially declared the event open followed by ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Asst Prof Nafisa Da Costa Frias proposed the Vote of Thanks, sharing appreciation for the support and participation of all attendees
Thirteen colleges across Goa participated in on-stage and off-stage competitions that highlighted innovation, creativity, and sustainability. At the conclusion of the event, S S Dempo College, Cujira emerged as the overall winners of Magnify 2025, showcasing outstanding performance across competitions and exemplifying the spirit of responsible tourism.
Magnify 2025 was more than just a competition; it was a celebration of purpose, creativity, and vision. The student core team, led by Ms Jennifer de Souza and Mr Brijesh Kashyap, with their dedication and commitment, ensured that the event went beyond contests, making it a truly meaningful and inspiring experience. By blending sustainability with innovation, Don Bosco College, Panjim reaffirmed its commitment to shaping responsible leaders in tourism and demonstrated that a greener future begins with the youth of today.
