The Bachelor of Arts in English (Hons) is structured to prepare the candidates for a career in the fields of academics, media, advertising, writing, publishing, editing, content creation, etc. The honours program primarily covers various social, cultural, and political concerns historically over various periods and eras through literature as a medium.

  • The program aims to hone the soft skills with an emphasis on communication skills through group discussion, individual speech and role play.
  • Students shall also be encouraged to inculcate essential life skills such as critical thinking, cultural sensitivity, stress management and empathy.
  • Exploration of various genres of literature like poetry, short story, novel and drama through textual analysis, theatre, creative exhibition, oratory monologue, group discussion and brainstorming.
  • Extensive instruction in the art of creative writing to develop an understanding of grammar, rhyme, rhythm, dramatic narration and the publishing process.
  • Engaging classroom environment through reflective approach and interactive teaching to deal with realities of our country and the world at large.
  • Highly competent faculty dedicated towards the overall development of the students.
  • Trains students for diverse career options, including academia, journalism, book publishing, and others.
  • Applicants must register for the program by filling up the online application at the Govt. of Goa DHE website and providing necessary information in the form of data, documents and photographs.
  • On successful verification of the online application a entrance exam and/or video/telephonic/physical interview will be scheduled and conducted subject to Govt notifications.
  • Based on the interview & HSSC result the applicant will be short listed and intimated of the same.
  • A physical verification of documents will be carried out for which guidelines will be communicated to the applicant accordingly.
  • Student candidacy will be confirmed on full payment of Academic Fee.
  • Applicants successfully completing their HSSC or +2 equivalent certificate recognized by Goa University with over 40% marks are eligible for the program.
  • Entrance exam and/or interview with the applicant.
