Women Achievers Felicitated by Don Bosco College

QUICK BITE - Five women achievers who were felicitated by the women’s cell of the Don Bosco College, Panjim on March 15, 2023, to commemorate the International Women’s Day which is celebrated worldwide.


As Michelle Obama said “There is no limit to what we as women can accomplish”
And this is what we saw in the five women achievers who were felicitated by the women’s cell of the Don Bosco College, Panjim on March 15, 2023. The program was held at the A.V. Hall from 10.00am to 12.00 to commemorate the International Women’s Day which is celebrated worldwide. As Mrs. Deepali Naik said, “Be equal in your approach and help the vulnerable and the marginalized”. Mrs. Naik, currently the Deputy Director of Directorate of Women and Child was addressing the audience as the Chief Guest of the programme and urged everyone to speak up for their rights and promote women empowerment.


The women felicitated were accomplished in their own rights. Mrs.Rita De Sa,an educationist and an author was felicitated for her social commitment and in her speech she told the audience that the power of conquering your own negative beliefs lies in the individual itself. An entrepreneur by profession , Mrs Pratiksha Chanankar was felicitated for her role that she plays in moulding the lives of women who belong to the self help groups. She spoke about her journey and urged everyone to live a sustainable life by taking small steps like having your own kitchen garden. Heritage and environment goes hand in hand, says Ms Tallulah D’ Silva who was the next recipient. Ms. D’Silva was felicitated for her works like sustainable architecture, raising awareness on khazans, Kids for tiger campaign which helps the marginalized and her interventions like NOMOZO. She spoke about the days when environment was so pure and today how we all have to protect our nature, heritage and culture. A powerful personality, Police Inspector Sandhya Gupta was acknowledged for her services to the police force and felicitated for her awareness on women safety. She spoke about the challenges faced by today's youth, the crimes and atrocities towards women and the increasing cases related to cyber crimes. She urged the students to respect their parents and have a positive approach to life. A fighter in life, Ms Ninoshka Fernandes was felicitated for the awareness that she creates on myths and misconceptions about cancer. She is a true motivation for all those who give up so easily in life. She spoke about her journey of the most difficult phase in her life, but that didn’t deter her from fighting back. With the backing of their family, each woman achiever sailed through the ups and downs to have what they envisioned for themselves.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Asst. Prof. Ms. Neha Talaulikar. This programme was curated by Ms. Glenda Mascarenhas, faculty incharge Ms. Talaulikar and student incharge Ms. Abisha Fernandes.

The students and staff of the college, along with few family members of the recipients attended the same. The Director, Fr. Joaquim Lobo and the Principal, Dr. Cedric Silveira complimented the recipients for their achievements.Overall the programme was well appreciated by all. As they say “ Today is your opportunity to build the tomorrow you want”.
