Intercollegiate Chess Tournament

The Department of Physical Education and Sports at Don Bosco College, Panjim, recently organised an interclass chess tournament. The event, held on 15th July 2024, brought together students from various classes, showcasing their strategic prowess and competitive spirit.
The tournament commenced at 8:00am in the College Library, with 3 students of each class participating. The tournament was a 3v3 knockout tournament with a 25 minute timer set for each match.


Throughout the tournament, participants exhibited exceptional skill and strategic thinking, making each round intensely competitive. The matches were characterized by keen concentration and tactical maneuvers, highlighting the dedication and training of the participants.
As the tournament progressed, the competition intensified, culminating in the final rounds. The finalists demonstrated remarkable resilience and composure under pressure, captivating the audience with their strategic plays.


After a series of closely contested matches, Mecklon Fernandes, Shahid Shaikh and Zaudin Khan of TY BCA defeated Yash Sawant, Arya Karpe and Bhumika Kuttikar of FY BAMCJ to emerge champions of the tournament.
The success of the tournament would not have been possible without the diligent efforts of the organizing committee, led by the students of the B.P.Ed. Department, and the support of the faculty and staff of the Department of Physical Education and Sports. Their meticulous planning and coordination ensured a smooth and enjoyable event for all participants.
