In order to bring in the festive cheer this December, the department of English at Don Bosco College – Panjim, organised a poetry writing competition on December 13 in the college library, for students across the various programmes offered by the institute, namely, BA, BCom, BBA, BBA Travel & Tourism, BCA and BAMCJ.
The aim of the competition was to provide students with a platform to bring out their creativity. The theme for the competition was ‘A secret Christmas Wish’.
Participants were given an hour to craft their poems, and were provided with a set of rules, such as, minimum and maximum number of stanzas, use of literary devices like repetition, alliteration, rhyme scheme and a catchy title.
The judges for the competition were assistant professors Glenda Mascarenhas and Agnelo D’souza.
First place was secured by Nazween of FYBCom, second place was won by Herman Noronha, and the third place was won by Raizel Dias of FYBAMCJ. Winners were presented with certificates of appreciation.
The competition was organised by assistant professors Alisha Nicole Carvalho, Nasween Beig and Jyoti Pandey.
