PixelSense- Don Bosco College Photographers Showcase Visual Storytelling

QUICK BITE - The members of the Pixels Club along with the second-year mass communication and journalism program students organized PixelSense- a photo exhibition to celebrate visual storytelling. Dr Cedric Silveira, Officiating Principal inaugurated the exhibition by clicking the camera.


The members of the Pixels Club along with the second-year mass communication and journalism program students organized PixelSense- a photo exhibition to celebrate visual storytelling. Faculty and students across all departments participated in the exhibition that showcased 97 photos covering themes such as urban tales, street symphony, market chronicles, earth’s whisper and vanishing traditions. Sr Cathrine Prisilda, Assistant Professor from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, a nun by vocation and a visual media communicator and educator by profession, along with Ms Althea Viegas, Faculty of Media Studies, an expert in Advertising and an Entrepreneur were judges.


Ms Christal Ferrao, Faculty Convenor of the Club in her welcome address said, “The exhibition was arranged on the stage to provide an opportunity for photographers, who usually work behind the scene to showcase their skill onstage. A photograph is not only a picture, it captures the art of visual storytelling.” Ms Raizel Dias, Secretary of the Club spoke about the club activities and welcomed the judges. Ms Sanisha Borkar, Assistant Secretary of the Club welcomed the dignitaries and shared her experience of organizing PixelSense. Ms Manju Yadav, Ladies Representative of the college anchored the session. Students and faculty members visited the exhibition to catch a glimpse of the photographs displayed.


After careful consideration and evaluation, 6 winners were awarded across 4 categories. Ms Valerie Carvalho, Assistant Professor from the Department of Business Administration was awarded for the best photograph in the faculty category, while Ms Raizel Dias was awarded in the club category and Ms. Arya Karpe was awarded in the Mass Communication department category. Ms Noella Araujo (TY BCom), Mr Noel Luis (FY BCA) and Mr Charles D’Souza (SY BCom) received noteworthy recognition awards in the college category.


Besides promoting photography, the exhibition was organized as a practical experience of event management.
