The NSS Unit of Don Bosco College, Panaji in collaboration with the institute’s Department of Computer Applications, organised a workshop on Cybersecurity on 30th September 2025. The session aimed at spreading awareness about online safety, responsible digital practices, and the preventive measures required to protect oneself in the cyber world.
The workshop began with a brief welcome address delivered by the event in-charge, NSS PO, Asst. Prof. Marina F. Martins. The resource persons for the session were Assistant Professor Rohan Kerkar, Course Coordinator of the BCA Department, and Assistant Professor Shantanu Arlekar, lecturer of the BCA Department. Through engaging presentations and real-life examples, they shed light on the growing threats in the digital space such as phishing, malware, identity theft, and data breaches. They also emphasized the importance of strong passwords, safe browsing habits, and the need for vigilance while using social media platforms and online financial services.
The session was interactive, with students actively participating and posing questions that reflected their concerns and curiosity about online safety. The insights shared by the speakers provided participants with practical strategies to safeguard their personal and professional digital identities.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Nazia expressing gratitude to the esteemed speakers, the NSS Programme Officers, the Department of Computer Applications, the Principal, and all participants who contributed to the success of the programme.
Overall, the workshop proved to be highly enriching and relevant, equipping students with essential knowledge to navigate the digital world responsibly and securely.
