The Department of Tourism and Travel, Don Bosco College, commemorated International World Tourism Day on 27 September 2021 with its annual event ‘Magnify' focussing on this year's theme – ‘Tourism for Inclusive Growth'.
The department reached out to different stakeholders in the tourism sector that have contributed to the local heritage and have stood the test of time. The students took up the task of studying the work and effort behind many traditional occupations of Goa and how these occupations could be turned into viable tourism products for alternative income. The journey of several people holding different traditional occupations was documented in the form of documentaries.

Students of the third year visited people and conducted interviews with traditional artisans to gather material for their documentaries in a short span of five days. The documentaries focused on occupations of Goa like Pottery, Ramponkars, Breadman or Poder, Toddy tapper or Render and Mithkar or Mitaghar. Three distinct personalities from the state were identified and felicitated to acknowledge their contribution towards continuing traditional occupations. Mrs Gletta Mascarenhas, Proprietor, 31st de Janeiro Bakery, Mr Sheldon D'Souza, owner of Estella Fisheries and Mr. Francisco Rodrigues who owns the Mae de Dues Bakery were felicitated by the Director of the College, Rev. Fr. Joaquim Lobo, Principal, Dr. Cedric Silveira and Department Coordinator, Mr. Gilbert Mendes. Ms. Glenda Mascarenhas proposed the vote of thanks and the programme was brought to a close with a Goan medley performed by the second-year students of the Tourism Department.

Given that the pandemic has had a massive socio-economic impact on the state, the revival of tourism will certainly help kickstart recovery and growth which is why the Department of Tourism and Travel took up the task of acknowledging the efforts of those who've always been an intrinsic part of our Goan society so that their work continues to stand the test of time.
