Institutional Policy

Don Bosco College has established systems and procedures for maintaining and utilizing physical, academic and support facilities. They provide guidance to members in a number of academic areas. The College has regular maintenance and periodic replenishment of essential facilities.
College policy is to have effective mechanism for the upkeep of the infrastructure and other facilities as to have optimum utilization of the facilities in order to have effective college functioning.



Equal Opportunity Policy for Persons with Disabilities


The Management of Don Bosco College is committed to providing equal opportunities in education and employment to all persons with disabilities. The College seeks to promote values of equality, inclusion, compassion, and justice by eliminating social exclusion, creating a barrier-free campus, and ensuring dignity and respect for every individual.
This policy is framed in accordance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, the UGC Guidelines, and Goa University regulations, and is applicable to all students, teaching, and non-teaching staff of the College.

Policy Provisions:


1. Inclusion and Non-Discrimination

  • Admission will not be denied to any student on the basis of disability.

  • No staff member or student shall face discrimination on grounds of disability in the course of their academic or professional engagement with the College.


2. Accessibility and Infrastructure

  • The College will progressively work towards barrier-free access across the campus.

  • The Management will ensure that the new infrastructure is constructed in accordance with accessibility standards and will conduct periodic audits to ensure barrier-free access.

  • Provisions will be made for:
    • Ramps and railings

    • Elevators

    • Accessible washrooms

    • Wheelchair access to classrooms, laboratories, and offices

    • Disabled-friendly signposts and pathways

  • Infrastructure upgrades shall be carried out in line with prescribed norms under the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.


3. Assistive Devices and Support Services

  • Provision of assistive devices such as wheelchairs, screen readers, braille materials, and disabled-friendly software shall be made available if and when necessary.

  • Upgradation of technological and mechanical support to ensure full participation of differently-abled persons in learning.

  • Counselling services and remedial classes will be offered for students with disabilities.


4. Examination and Academic Support

  • Concessions such as compensatory time, use of scribes, and assistive technologies shall be provided for examinations in accordance with Goa University rules.

  • Differently-abled students shall receive guidance, academic support, and flexibility in teaching-learning methods as needed.


5. Sensitization and Awareness

  • Organization of awareness and sensitization programmes for staff and students to foster an
    inclusive environment.

  • Celebration of important disability-related days.

  • Collaboration with NGOs, government agencies, and external bodies to create learning and employment opportunities.


6. Recruitment and Employment

  • The Management of the College shall ensure that:

    • Recruitment shall be merit-based and in accordance with the norms of the Government and Goa University.

    • Persons with disabilities shall not face discrimination in the recruitment or admission process.


7. Liaison Officer

  • The Management has appointed Ms Alisha Souza as the Liaison Officer/ Grievance Redressal Officer for persons with disabilities.

  • The Liaison Officer will maintain records of persons with disabilities, ensure policy implementation, and address complaints.


8. Records and Grievance Redressal

  • A register of persons with disabilities shall be maintained by the Liaison Officer as per the
    RPWD Act, 2016.

  • A grievance register will be maintained in the College office, and complaints may be submitted directly to the Liaison Officer.


9. Monitoring and Review

  • The Management along with the Principal shall monitor and review the implementation of
    this policy.

  • The Equal Opportunity Policy shall be displayed on the College website and updated periodically in line with statutory and regulatory changes.
